In July 1978 the European manufacturer Airbus began work on their second aircraft, the
A310. It would be a medium-to long-range wide-body airliner based on the Airbus larger
first aircraft the A300. The first flight of the A310 took place on April 3, 1982 with the first
service flight in April 1983 with Lufthansa. In 1985 the A310-300 production began as a
longer range version of the A310-200 and is capable of carrying an additional 15,430
pounds of fuel in its tail-plane. The last A310 was delivered in June 1998.

Czech Airlines (CSA) operated 4 Airbus A310’s. The first to be delivered was OK-WAA c/n
564 that arrived in Prague on February 13, 1991. The first long-distance scheduled flight
was made by OK-WAA March 4, 1991.  Starting 2008 Czech Airlines decided to sell their
aging A310s. OK-WAA served the airline until June 19, 2009 when it left Prague destined
to become EP-MNX of Mahan Airlines from Tehran, Iran. Between 2008 and 2010 CSA
sold all 4 A310s, 2 to Mahan, 2 to Blue Line.
